Artful Treasure Hunt and Stamp Carving Adventure!

Instructor:  Wendy Gault

Fee:  $54

 

No experience necessary - you don't even need to have carved a rubber stamp before!!  Just come out and have fun! 

(Note:  we recommend that children take the class with adults, so they can be accompanied by adults when participating in letterboxing outside the class.)

 

Participate in a fun, challenging and creative activity that you can share with friends and family for years of adventures, good fun and memories.  It is a hobby (some call it a sport) that combines rubberstamp art, treasure hunting, and often hiking (sometimes just a short walk).  During this workshop you will learn "best practices," create a Letterboxing Kit (including carving two rubberstamps) to be used during your adventures (during the workshop and for many adventures after!), learn all about the Letterboxing community on the internet, and how to find clues for your future adventures. 

After the first portion of the class, you will participate in a hunt planted just for you!  With your Letterboxing Kit and CLUES in hand, you will hunt for numerous letterboxes planted nearby.  We will also indulge in two time-honored Letterboxing activities . . . sharing adventures and exchanging carved images.

Supplies Participants Must Bring:

   * Watch (or other time-keeping device, such as cell phone)

   * Trail Name (this is a nickname used within the Letterboxing community.  Wendy's is "Love to Carve.")

   * Image ideas to carve and use as a "signature stamp"  (Letterboxers often use a critter, or favorite image, ie. heart, peace sign, cartoon       character, flower, sun, footprint, shell, initials, etc.) There will be images available if you can't think of anything.

   * Optional:  magnifying glasses, helpful to see up close while you carve.

No special supplies are necessary!  Wendy and The ARTbar will be providing a special letterbox hunting kit, along with stamp carving tools and supplies
